Frank Correra
State Chaplain - Air Force

Frank J Correa, VFW life member, has served as both a post and District chaplain for both the VFW and the American Legion. He is active in teaching chaplains at the District, Department, and National levels.

Frank grew up in Southern California.  After graduating nursing school he worked as an ER nurse. One year after graduating he was commissioned into the USAF Nurse Corps.  He joined the 68th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, Norton AFB CA. He held many assignments such as flight instructor, flight examiner, and as the Training Flight Commander. His last assignment before retiring in 2004 was chief of Aeromedical Standardization/Evaluation at the 452ndOperations Group March ARB. During the course of his military service he served stateside as squadron acting executive officer during Desert Storm, was deployed to Africa for Operation Restore Hope, and to the Iraq theater of operations for Iraqi Freedom as a medical crew director. His crew transported over 700 wounded.  His missions included the historic flight bringing out the 7 rescued American POWS in April of 2003. He was also selected for a state department mission to Tunisia to train Tunisian military medical personnel. He retired with the rank of Lt Colonel.

His ministry experience includes: University Chief Academic Officer, Professor of theology and Apologetics. Served in the Pastorate for 20 years and is ordained.

Served as a Hospital chaplain & Certified counselor. Critical Incident Stress Debriefing team Los Angeles Fire Department.

His education includes 3 earned seminary graduate degrees and is a graduate of the US Air Force Air Command and Staff College.  His highest earned degree is a Doctorate.
