John White
District 13 Commander - Army
John White enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 17, where he completed both Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training in Military Intelligence. In 1997, he deployed for Operation Joint Endeavor in Bosnia-Herzegovina, earning eligibility for membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), which he officially joined in 2012.
In addition to his military service, John has dedicated more than 25 years to law enforcement, serving in a variety of assignments, including investigations, canine, and other specialized units. His commitment to service extends beyond his profession, as he has founded several nonprofit organizations, including one devoted to supporting retired police canines.
John is also a proud father of three children, with another child on the way.
A Gold Legacy Life Member of VFW Post 1051 in Ripon, California, John has been deeply involved in the organization at multiple levels. He has served for several years as Post Commander, earning recognition as both an All-American Post Commander and All-State Post Commander. He is also an active member of the VFW Riders, where he served as President.
His additional service to the Post includes roles on the House Committee, as Judge Advocate, and as a volunteer BBQ Pitmaster. At the district level, John has served as District 13 Junior Vice Commander and Senior Vice Commander, and he now looks forward to serving in his new leadership role as District 13 Commander.
