Jorge Galvez
District 11 Commander - Marines

Jorge Galvez is married to his wife, Karen Galvez, and together they have two children, a son and a daughter. Jorge and Karen first met in the 6th grade at Virgil Middle School in Los Angeles, California, beginning a lifelong journey together.


On March 17, 2003, Jorge enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and left for boot camp. Following graduation, he attended the School of Infantry (SOI) at Camp Pendleton, California, where he trained and graduated as a Machine Gunner (MOS 0331). He was later deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II, where he was wounded by an improvised explosive device (IED), earning his eligibility to join the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

After undergoing extensive therapy for his traumatic brain injury, which he continues to this day, Jorge became a dedicated member of the veteran community. He joined VFW Post 8070 in Azusa, California, on April 11, 2012, became a Life Member in September 2014, and is now recognized as a Legacy Life Member.

In addition to his service with the VFW, Jorge is a Life Member of the Military Order of the Cooties, the Military Order of the Purple Heart—San Gabriel Valley Chapter, the Marine Corps League Chosen Detachment, and AMVETS. He is also a proud Mason of Lodge 404 in Glendora, California.

Jorge has served in numerous elected and appointed positions at the Post, District, and Department levels, as well as serving twice as a National Aide-de-Camp. His ongoing commitment to veterans’ causes reflects his dedication to service, community, and country.
