Robbie Normand proudly serves as Commander of District 6 and as the Veterans of Foreign Wars National Home Chairman for the Department of California.

 

Born and raised in Washington, Robbie enlisted in the United States Air Force in August 1999 following his graduation from high school. During his distinguished 14-year military career, he served as a Korean Cryptologic Language Analyst, completing three tours of duty at Osan Air Base in the Republic of Korea, where he accumulated more than five years of overseas service.

 

In 2008, Robbie deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as an Intelligence Analyst assigned to a Weapons Intelligence Team embedded with Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units throughout Iraq. His service in this critical role directly supported combat operations by providing intelligence and analysis to counter improvised explosive device (IED) threats.

 

In October 2013, Robbie concluded his honorable active-duty military service, retiring with the rank of Technical Sergeant (E-6) after 14 years of dedicated service to the United States Air Force.

 

Comrade Normand became a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in December 2009 at Col. Lewis L. Millett Hill 180 Memorial VFW Post 10216 (now VFW Post 8180) at Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea. In May 2011, he joined Military Order of the Cootie Pup Tent 8, Chokum Chingus. While serving overseas as a Department of Defense contractor, he was elected Senior Vice Commander of his Post and later served as a District Trustee, beginning a long record of dedicated leadership and service within the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

 

Following his return to the United States, Robbie transferred his membership to North Las Vegas VFW Post 10047 and Military Order of the Cootie Pup Tent 2, Snake Eyes, in Nevada. There, he continued to serve in numerous leadership capacities, including District Commander, while advancing the mission and programs of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

 

After relocating to California, Robbie transferred to Tehachapi Mountain VFW Post 5948. In April 2026, he was elected Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Department of California, District 6, where he continues to serve the comrades and Posts of the district with dedication and commitment. He also serves as the Department of California's National Home Chairman, promoting and supporting the life-changing mission of the VFW National Home for Children.

 

Within the Military Order of the Cootie, Robbie has served in numerous leadership positions, culminating in his election as Supreme Commander for the 2024–2025 administrative year. He currently serves as the Grand of California Junior Vice Commander and remains committed to advancing the Order's principles of Honor, Cheerfulness, and Service.

 

His military decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with three awards, Iraq Campaign Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and numerous other service and unit awards. In recognition of his outstanding service to veterans and his community, he was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel in February 2025.

 

Professionally, Robbie serves as an Air Force Civilian with the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center (AFOTEC) at Edwards Air Force Base, California. His commitment to excellence in public service has earned him nominations for both the National Public Servant Award and the prestigious Bob Hope Spirit of Hope Award.

 

Whether serving his nation, his community, or his fellow veterans, Comrade Normand remains steadfast in his commitment to the ideals of the Veterans of Foreign Wars—honoring the sacrifices of those who have served, strengthening the bonds of comradeship, and ensuring that no veteran is left behind.
