Rob Cancio
District 4 Commander - Navy

Rob Cancio began his military career in 2005 by enlisting in the US Navy and served as a Cryptologic Technician assigned to the USS Preble (DDG-88) in San Diego, CA. He earned his eligibility for the VFW while deployed to the Persian Gulf onboard USS Preble.
 
Following his active-duty service, Rob pursued a civilian career spanning higher education, executive leadership, and public service. He currently serves as Divisional President for the nation's largest manufacturers of architectural aluminum products.
 
Committed to education and community service, Rob was elected to the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District Board of Education in 2021 and currently serves as President of the Board.
 
Rob earned an A.A. from East Los Angeles College, a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, an MBV from the University of Southern California, and both a MA and Doctorate from the University of Miami. He has also completed executive and professional education programs through Harvard University, the University of Florida, and Loyola Marymount University.
 
In 2024, Rob accepted a direct commission into the US Army Reserve as a Civil Affairs Officer. He has served with the 351st Civil Affairs Command supporting education and governance missions and currently serves with the 350th Civil Affairs Command as a Commerce Officer.
 
His military decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist insignia.
