Andres Aguilar
Sgt-at-Arms - Marines

Andres Aguilar is a United States Marine Corps veteran from the small town of Navasota, Texas. He served from 2004 to 2013, beginning his career as a Motor Transport Mechanic with 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines, based out of Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. He deployed in support of both Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), playing a vital role in sustaining vehicle operations in active combat zones. His technical expertise and composure under pressure helped keep his unit mobile, supplied, and operational under hazardous conditions. For his service, Corporal Aguilar was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, two Navy Unit Commendations, two Good Conduct Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, OEF and OIF Campaign Medals, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; recognition earned through consistent performance in demanding environments.

Following his first enlistment, Andres re-enlisted and was assigned to Marine Air Control Squadron 1, Detachment B, at MCAS Miramar, where he brought his operational experience and technical expertise to support aviation command and control systems until his honorable separation in 2013. Since 2017, he has continued to serve his fellow veterans as a Senior Veterans Service Representative with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), where he plays a key role in helping veterans navigate the benefits system with clarity, compassion, and precision.

Andres is an active member of VFW Post 1513 in Escondido, California, where he has served as Post Quartermaster, Junior Vice Commander, and most recently as Post Commander from 2023 to 2025. His leadership has contributed to revitalizing the Post as a resource hub for local veterans and their families, strengthening programs, outreach, and community engagement. He also serves on the Board of Directors for North County Veterans Stand Down, which hosts a multi-day annual event offering shelter, healthcare, legal support, and services to at-risk, transitioning, and homeless veterans.

Outside of work and volunteer commitments, Andres enjoys life with his wife, Sandra Aguilar, who has also served the veteran community as President of the Post 1513 Auxiliary. Together, they share a deep passion for service, community, and fun, spending their free time at Disneyland, attending concerts, and cheering on the San Diego Football Club.
