Chuck joined the U.S. Army 1983 completing basic training at Fort McClellan Al. After completing basic it was off to Fort Rucker, Al for AIT to learn to become a Utility Helicopter Repairman MOS 67N Huey Helicopters. Duty stations include Fort Ord CA, Tongduchen South Korea 2nd I.D., Fort Stewart / Hunter Army Airfield GA, and finally West Germany. Special assignment to El Salvador-U.S. Embassy flight detachment. 

Qualified for the VFW with service in Korea and Desert Shield/Storm.

Obtained the rank of SGT E-5, Senior Aircraft Crewmember with over 1000 hours of flight time. Separated from active duty in 1992 with an Honorable Discharge
