District 6 Commander - Army

Salvador A. Cota Jr. currently serves as the Commander of VFW CA District 6 and the Quartermaster of VFW CA Post 10965. He joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars in 2015 and is a Life Member of Post 10965. His journey within the VFW has seen him hold various positions including Post Junior Vice Commander (2015-2016), Post Commander (2016-2024), District 6 Senior Vice Commander (2022-2024), and National Aide-De-Camp (2022-2023).

Salvador served in the United States Army from 2002 to 2015, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSG). He specialized as a Satellite Communications Operator/Maintainer and Satellite Network Coordinator, with postings at Camp Roberts, CA; Camp Carroll, South Korea; Peterson AFB, CO; Wahiawa, HI; and Fort Bragg, SC. His eligibility for the VFW was earned through his service in South Korea, where he received the Korean Defense Service Medal.

Since 2015, Salvador has been working for the Department of the Army as a Telecommunications Specialist and has been a Telecommunications Supervisor since 2018. His professional excellence is recognized with numerous awards, including the Civilian Service Achievement Medal, Patriotic Public Service Lapel Pin, and multiple Certificates of Achievement.

A first-generation American, Salvador resides in Paso Robles, CA. He is an active member of the Channel Islands Chapter of Mensa and has been on the board of Almond Acres Charter Academy since 2017, serving as the Vice President since 2020. He is also a member of the American Legion since 2016.

Throughout his military career, Salvador has been awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (5th award), Army Good Conduct Medal (4th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (2nd Award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Basic Air Force Space & Missile Badge, USAF Basic Space Badge, and USAF Senior Space Badge.
