| Post Commander with 10 members attended the 2024 Bret Harte High School Veterans appreciation day From 0800 till 1300 hrs(there was 9 other veterans not associated with post12118). Students from all history classes assemble in the gymnasium instead of their classrooms. The students have a script from which they ask questions of the veterans regarding; which branch of the military served what years rate or rank duties where served what combat experiences (the students are not allowed to ask questions about killing the enemy if the veteran wishes to contribute this information it must be done without the horror.) Questions in general about life in the military. The veterans are assigned tables set up in the gym and 4 or 5 chairs are at each table. In this session there were 20 tables set up and all were full throughout the 5 hour session. This is Post 12118's 14th year attending this assembly of veterans and students. |
