Description |
Post Commander was made aware of a Veteran in need of assistance. Veteran had lost his house due to fires in Orange County area. He is a Afgan Campaign purple heart awardee with disabilities from IED explosion. He is single parent of a 7 5 and 4 year old. The 4 year old sustained 2nd degree burns from the fire and is still in a burn center in Orange county the 7 year old undergoes dialysis treatment here locally. The veteran moved to Bakersfield recently on advice of others and spent available funds on finding housing. He allowed another to borrow his car not knowing the person had a suspended license. The car was impounded leaving him no means to take one child to dialysis and to visit the other hospital bound child and no money to get car from impound. Post Commander verified all this( DD214 police impound report and medical treatment issues). Post was able to assist him in getting vehicle back and he is now able to provide for the care his children need. The Veteran also completed application to join VFW and will be referred to the OIF/OEF Purple Heart membership. |
