Bob Parks
District 1 Commander - Marines

Bob was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. but at the age of 10 moved to Buffalo, N.Y.  Bob enlisted in the United States Marine Corps upon graduating from high school in 1965.  He completed recruit training at Parris Island, S.C. and then went to Camp Lejeune, N.C. for Infantry Training Regiment.  He was then assigned to the 10th Marines (Artillery) as a radio operator. In 1967 Bob  found himself in Viet Nam as a radio operator assigned to 1st Medical Battalion, 1st Marine Division.  When he returned to CONUS, he was stationed at Camp Pendleton with 5th Recon Battalion.  Bob was released from active duty as a Sergeant in July 1968.
Bob joined the Marine Corps Reserve unit in Buffalo, N.Y. when he returned home.  From 1968 to 1974, he served as a Platoon Sergeant  and Company Gunnery Sergeant of India Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines. In 1975 Bob transferred to H&S Company, 8th Tank Battalion in Rochester, N.Y. where he served as the Battalion S-3 Chief and the the Company First Sergeant.
Bob returned to active duty in 1982 as a Reserve on active duty.  He was assigned to MCRD Parris Island, S.C. as the Reserve Liaison.
Bob was released from active duty in 1989 and moved to Tampa, Fl.  He then joined H&S Company 4th Amtrac Battalion and in November of1990 was activated for Desert Storm.  
Bob retired from the Marine Corps Reserve in 1994.
Bob has been a Life Member of the VFW since 2012 although he had been an annual Member for quite a few years before.  Bob served as Commander of Post 7907 in Poway, CA in 2016-2018. Bob went on to serve as Jr. Vice and Sr. Vice of the Mighty First District prior to becoming Commander.
